A University of Costa Rica (within Spanish, Universidad first state Costa Rica, abbreviated UCR) occurs as public university in the Republic of Costa Rica, in Central America. Its independent campus is located in San Pedro, in the province of San José. These are a oldest, big, & virtually all prestigious institution of higher learning inside Costa Rica.

History
A 1st university inside Costa Rica was a University of St. Thomas (Universidad diamond state Santo Tomás), established inside 1843. That institution maintained close ties by having a Roman Catholic Church and was closed in 1888 by the progressive and mildly anti-clerical government of President Bernardo Soto Alfaro as part of the campaign to modernize public education. A schools of law, agronomy, fine arts, and pharmacy continued to operate independently, however Costa Rica experienced there are no university proper until 1940, when a modern UCR was established.

Events

Semana U is an event held in a middle of the 1st semester & involves the participation of the different student organizations. There are several concerts, talks, expositions, etc.

Applying
Costa Rican applier to the UCR must require an admission line 2 text. This line 1 text is similar to the SAT in the US.
